The independent MP Konstantinos Floros, elected with the Spartans, will be brought before the investigator for his apology at noon today, charged with a felony for the attack inside the Parliament against the MP of the Hellenic Solution, Vassilis Grammenos.

Floros, since yesterday, when he was given a deadline to apologize, remains in custody at the offices of the State Security at the General Police Directorate of Attica. The public prosecutor’s office proceeded to initiate a felony criminal prosecution for violence against a member of parliament during the performance of his duties (Article 157 of the Civil Code), after the attack on Mr. Grammenos.

The serious incident, which resulted in the injury of Mr. Grammenos, activated, with the immediate intervention of the Speaker of the Parliament, Kostas Tassoulas, the automatic procedure for committing a felony and thus the independent member of parliament was arrested immediately after his act.

The president of the Parliament. speaking to the plenary about the extreme episode, he said that “the Regulation does not provide for this brutal behavior” and proposed changes

The moment of the episode

Extreme episode

Mr. Grammenos has broken nasal bones, a sprained jaw, a traumatic ligament tear in his wrist and forearm, according to the medical release. Doctors recommended rest and a 10-day sick leave. However, Mr. Floros denies that he punched him.

According to statements by the defendant’s lawyer, Vassos Pantazis, the incident was preceded by a “vulgar verbal attack” by the victim towards her principal. The advocate referred to “justified indignation”, as “provided and defined in the criminal law”. At the same time, Mrs. Pantazi, expressing surprise at the criminal charge against Mr. Floros, spoke of “legal exaggeration” over an unfortunate personal incident.

The unprecedented incident, attributed to a “vendetta” between the Hellenic Solution and the independent MP, took place when the president of the Hellenic Solution Kyriakos Velopoulos was on the floor of the Parliament, discussing the removal of his immunity, after his father’s lawsuit MP Floros, regarding anonymous accounts on Twitter that insult him.

Are changes coming?

The Speaker of the Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoulas, announced that the independent MP is removed from his duties for 15 days.

“The heaviest I can impose on the MP who raised his hand against a colleague at this time under the Rules of Procedure is to remove him with the Guard for fifteen days from the proceedings of the House. I would like your permission for this fortnight’s sentence. It is a “caress” against the vulgarity and brutality of his behavior, but we will see later. Obviously, there will be a lifting of immunity and he will also face the consequences of this brutal behavior” said Mr. Tasoulas.

Shortly after, Mr. Tasoulas came back, announcing that according to article 157, Konstantinos Floros was arrested and will be taken to the General Police Directorate, accused of a felony while he also proposed changes to the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament.

“Again, let me interrupt the flow of the conversation by giving you a further update on the handling of this appalling behavior.

As I have explained to you, the “arsenal” of the Standing Orders of the House did not have the imagination to think that they can come here elected by the sovereign people, a member of the House who will punch another member. This is for information and compliance. We will extend our imagination to these versions as well”, characteristically said Mr. Tasoulas and continued:

“I ordered that he be taken to the authorities as there is evidence of violence during the performance of his duties.”
