The ESR (National Radio and Television Council) is dealing with the case of media coverage of the events regarding the murder of Kyriaki Griva outside the A/T Agioi Anargyroi.
It is worth noting that a large number of complaints from citizens have recently reached the offices of the Independent Authority regarding the way the channels covered the cold-blooded murder of Kyriaki Griva.
In the standard briefing of the accredited journalists by the officials of the ESR, it became clear that everything that has been broadcast until today from the tragic event, is to a large extent a product of the relevant case file and therefore any publication is prohibited by law.
From ESR’s point of view, it was emphasized that the audio excerpt of the telephone communication of the A/T Agios Anargyroi with the Immediate Action center in which a police officer is heard informing about the tragic incident and calling for an ambulance to be sent, is a product of the criminal preliminary procedure and should not to be transmitted. “Files have been opened”, emphasized the ESR.
In the same briefing for journalists, it was pointed out that the publication of information concerning the perpetrator is expressly prohibited due to the statutory presumption of innocence.
