Another case of an accident with the controversial autonomous driving system as the protagonist

It looks like trouble continues for Tesla’s self-driving system, as another report arrives from the US of a fatal accident involving a Tesla model with Autopilot. More specifically, we are talking about 28-year-old Jeffrey Nissen, who died in the accident with a 56-year-old Tesla driver.

According to reports, the accident took place on April 19 after the 56-year-old selected autopilot in his car, then checked his mobile phone. The car struck the unfortunate motorcyclist from behind and crushed him, his systems apparently proving insufficient at the time to detect him and stop the 4-wheeler in time. The Tesla driver himself, as soon as he realized what happened, called the police.

The driver was arrested but released after posting $100,000 bail. Unfortunately we are talking about the 17thThe death of a person from an accident involving the use of the Tesla system and not the first involving a motorcycle, as a second vehicle. The company reminds that the system is “intended to be used by a fully focused driver, who has his hands on the wheel and is ready to take control at any time”. Your comments…
