“What happened in the Parliament today is unacceptable and uncharacteristic and not consistent with the Democratic polity. MPs have turned the Parliament premises into a ring and a party leader is threatening, indirectly but clearly, MPs, warning them not to go to church on Easter”, states the deputy minister to the prime minister and government representative, Pavlos Marinakis, in a statement.
“The acts of violence, the practices of the extremes and the vulgar rhetoric of populism, return us to times that the country has left behind irretrievably and society has rejected as a whole. We must, as a political system and as a society, stand against – and we will continue to do so – all these logics that have led the country to the brink of the cliff. We are against violence, against the phenomena of democratization, against thuggery and threats”, concludes the government representative.
