Lyggeridis murder: “It is probably the biggest case concerning common Criminal Law” says the lawyer of the family (Video)

The countdown to the confession of the 67 arrested in the case of the murderous attack on the policeman George Lyggeridis, last December at Rentiit has started.

In the meantime, the advocate of the victim’s family spoke to ERT, Vassilis Kapernaros considering that “it is perhaps the biggest case concerning the common Criminal Law”.

“We have a successful and excellent police work under the supervision of both the Prosecutor of the Supreme Court and the supervising prosecutor, Mrs. Perimeni. We are now waiting for the baton of adherence to duty and the obligation to exercise their function from the side of Justice” said the lawyer of the family Lygerides.

He emphasized that he hoped that with the same dedication shown by the police authorities in locating and identifying the perpetrators, the investigation will continue and the essential truth will be ascertained, reaching the persons involved in this case.

“Competent State bodies did not do their job properly”

And as he pointed out, all of Greece considers that this case “is the climax to stop this army that is hostile to Greek society”. Commenting on the large number of those arrested, he stated that this is explained because “the culpability of competent bodies that did not do their job properly have accumulated. This case goes very deep and I think it is probably the biggest case concerning the common criminal law”.

According to Mr. Kapernaros it is clear from their actions that they intended to kill. “If everyone doesn’t step up now to help make it clear this perishing wound, then we shall have rotted away. This is where we take our exams as a people and as a social group.”

As he revealed, representing the family of the murdered policeman, he will file a civil lawsuit, expressing the fear of not exerting pressure on the investigative and judicial authorities that will prevent the investigation of the case.

On Saturday and Sunday the apologies of the 67 accused

Their answer to the heavy indictment that has been drawn up against them, they are invited to give their apologies on Saturday and Sunday, when the accused in the case of a criminal organization of fans, members of which are involved in the fatal attack on the police officer Giorgos Doulgeridis, will appear for their apologies before the Investigators.

The 67 defendants they already received deadlines for their apologies for the weekend as of yesterday afternoon, with the majority of them declaring, through their advocates, that it has nothing to do with what is attributed to them.

The apology process is expected to begin on Saturday morning so they will go to the courts to be in front of the five Investigators appointed for the case, the first groups of defendants, while the apologies will continue on Sunday.

It is reminded that the prosecution of the case, involving a total of 160 persons, includes 12 serious felonies and heaps of misdemeanors.

According to the prosecution, five defendants are charged which concerns the management of a criminal organization, as they are assigned a leading, central role in the operation of the organization which according to with the case file had specific action against the background of their team’s sports activity.

The violent death of the policeman occupies a leading position in the case file, a criminal act which, according to the authorities, is the result of an organized decision to attack police officers, which was taken by the hierarchy of the organization and carried out by its members.

Depending on the degree of involvement of each defendant, the prosecution includes, among other things, felony offenses for

*Establishment and membership in a criminal organization.

*Manslaughter during a sporting event.

*Ethical complicity in homicide during a sporting event.

*Aiding and abetting homicide during a sporting event

*Explosion that resulted in the death of another during a sporting event.

*Ethical complicity in the explosion that resulted in the death of another during a sporting event

*Participating in the explosion that resulted in the death of another during a sporting event.

*Manufacturing and possessing explosive devices for the purpose of illegally supplying organizations with the occasion of a sporting event.

*Ethical authorship in the manufacture of explosive and incendiary materials that may cause danger to a person on the occasion of a sporting event

*Blackmail by threatening to damage another’s business by complicity during a sporting event.

*Robbery by accomplice and serial with a sports background.

Among those arrested who are asked to apologize for serious offenses is the 16-year-old brother of the 18-year-old prisoner who confessed that he threw the naval flare that cut the thread of the policeman’s life outside the closed Rendis stadium last December.

Overall the minors in the case it’s fifteen.

Seven defendants, three of whom are in the group of 67, are involved in drug trafficking without being charged with involvement in the criminal organization.
