The Supreme Court is expected to announce today the decision on whether or not the “Spartans” will participate in the European elections.

Specifically, today is expected the decision on which of the 46 combinations and parties that have submitted the relevant application will receive the “green light” to participate in the upcoming European elections.

The Spartans have filed a regular ballot, however they are being scrutinized for the party’s ties to the convicted criminal organization Ilias Kasidiaris. ND, PASOK and New Left had submitted memorandums in the previous days to the Areio Pagos against the participation of the Spartans, emphasizing the relations with the imprisoned Chrysaugitis. ND noted in its memorandum that this is the natural leader of the party and requested the exclusion of the party from the European elections.

At the same time, it is expected that there will soon be developments on the Electoral Court front, which will decide whether the Spartans should lose their seats in the Parliament, in case it judges that their natural leader is the one convicted of participating in a criminal organization and imprisoned in prison, Ilias Kassidiaris. A fact that will either lead to a proportional distribution of their seats to the other parties or to repeat elections in the districts where they were elected.
