Agios Doukas came from Mytilene and worked as a tailor in a tailor shop in Constantinople. When he once went to offer his services at the house of a Turkish magnate, who was away in the army, he was immediately attacked by his promiscuous wife, but as another sober Joseph removed himself from her house. This event took place on April 24, 1564 AD. in Constantinople proving the divine love of the martyr to the Christian faith.
