The apologies of the 67 arrested for the Lyggeridis murder and other incidents and criminal acts are expected to begin on Saturday.

According to information, the accused have been divided into groups of 10 people and will be gradually interviewed by three investigators on Saturday and Sunday. According to the same judicial sources, approximately 30 people are expected to be excused on Saturday and the rest on Sunday.

The 67 defendants are among the 160 included in the relevant case file and yesterday they were prosecuted for 28 offences, of which 12 were felonies.

Specifically, criminal prosecution was brought for the following charges:

  • Address of a criminal organization.
  • Formation and membership of a criminal organization.
  • Homicide during a sporting event.
  • Moral complicity in homicide during a sporting event.
  • Complicity in homicide during a sporting event.
  • An explosion that also resulted in the death of another during a sporting event.
  • Ethical complicity in the explosion that also resulted in the death of another during a sporting event.
  • Contributing to the explosion resulting in the death of another during a sporting event.
  • Manufacture of explosive devices for the purpose of illegally supplying organizations with the occasion of a sporting event.
  • Ethical authorship in the manufacture of explosive and incendiary materials which may cause danger to a person on the occasion of a sporting event.
  • Blackmail by threatening to damage another’s business by complicity during a sporting event.
  • Robbery by accomplice and serial with a sports background.
  • Distinctive violence against employees who were in serious danger.
  • Arson from which a common danger to foreign objects may arise during a sporting event.
  • Disturbing the public peace during a sporting event.
  • Damage to foreign property during a sporting event.
  • Dangerous bodily harm against employees and non-employees.
  • Violence against another during a sporting event.
  • Possession of items that can cause bodily harm during a sporting event.
  • Possession of flares and firecrackers during a sporting event.
  • Possession of objects capable of causing bodily harm.
  • Theft by complicity.
  • Illegal gun possession.
  • Illegal carrying of firearms.
  • Follow-up weapon use.
  • Illegal possession of firecrackers.
  • Supply – possession of drugs.
  • Possession of explosive and incendiary materials in connection with a sports organization

The main file of the criminal organization is handled by the 9th investigator with assistants on the 22nd and 17th, while the part of the 15 minors is handled by the 2nd juvenile investigator and the 4th drug investigator handles the drug file (as some of those included in the file also have a violation of the drug law.

In addition to the 67 arrested, there are also about 100 included in the case file and will be asked to apologize as part of the main investigation. From this, it is not excluded that additional defendants will emerge who will either have warrants issued for their arrest, or they will also be summoned to testify.

Rentis: How ELAS arrived at the 67 defendants for criminal organization

The ELAS communication on the organization mentions, among other things, how the ELAS Operation Damocles Spathes unfolded that led to the arrest of the 37, but also how the events unfolded at the Melina Merkouri stadium on the fateful night.

As stated in the EL.AS.’s transmission, after the events of December, 310 people who had attended the “Melina Merkouri” stadium in Rentis came and testified. The statements of three people who were placed under witness protection status were also of decisive importance.

Furthermore, the confidentiality of communications was removed, with the process of scanning antennas both for the case in Rentis and for other cases, in which the Members of the Organization participated, and in addition, communications were removed with the connection process as well as communications removal in Members of the Organization for previous periods of time.

“Finally, two (2) mobile telephone devices were seized, which were confiscated as evidence at points through which the perpetrators passed during their attacks.”

Also, in the area around the stadium, 28 persuasions were found and confiscated, “which were used as weapons in the attacks against the police forces, namely naval flares, hand flares, flare launchers, remnants of A.E.M. etc.”, while 64 more clothes were confiscated, clothes that the perpetrators took off and threw away so that they could not be identified. Video footage from stores, businesses, the internet and other sources was also seized and analyzed.
