The “Easter Basket” is in effect today – What it includes and how long it will last

The “Easter Basket” comes into effect in supermarkets from today (24.4), which will last until on Holy Saturday, May 4.

The measure is implemented for the second consecutive year, operating in addition to the “Household Basket”, in order to contain the prices of products with increased seasonal demand. It includes 4 food categories that fill the Easter table of consumers: lamb, goat, bun, Easter chocolate eggs and corresponding products.

“In the basic products, such as the Easter bun, the lamb and other Easter products, it seems that the prices will be the same and in some cases they will be even lower than last Easter” the Minister of Development, Kostas Skrekas, noted about the “basket”, speaking on Tuesday in the First Program. Regarding the price of lamb, Mr. Skrekas has pointed out that the goal is to sell it for 10 euros per kilo and lower.

This basket will be applied until May 4, 2024 and will include:

  • Lamb
  • Kid
  • Greek sweet bread
  • Easter chocolate eggs and related products

It is recalled “Lent Basket” is valid until May 4. It is noted that the list of existing products in “Household Basket” becomes as follows:
