Her the shortage of pharmaceuticals has increased from the shelves of private and hospital pharmacies in our country, according to the new list, which was posted yesterday by National Medicines Organization (EOF) on its official website. Thus, according to EOF data, it is in limited availability in April 234 pharmaceutical preparations as and 51 pharmaceutical preparations which are imported through the Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Technology (IFET).
Drug shortages are attributed to parallel exports
Of these, 45 are purely hospital-based, 6 are contrast agents and 4 are vaccines. It is noted that in March there was a shortage of 233 medicines, in February 193, while in December there was limited availability for 109. The shortages are attributed, among other things, to parallel exports, as their low price in Greece makes their promotion in countries with high prices, such as Germany.
The new list of the EOF on the shortages of pharmaceuticals from the shelves of private pharmacies in our country vindicates the representatives of the pharmacists themselves, who insist on an expanding phenomenon, and foreshadows the possibility of expanding the list of the EOF with the pharmaceutical preparations for which parallel exports from our country are prohibited. From the stage of the 9th Economic Forum of Delphi, Mr EOF president, Evangelos Manolopoulos, noted recently, among other things, that “we are in a constant struggle to meet the needs of the market, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, depending on the cause of the problem”. The president of the EOF also mentioned that the state is taking measures, such as increasing the price of cheap medicines, banning parallel exports and others, so that the patient can find his medicine when he needs it.
