The anonymous whistleblower who broke his silence 73 days later

On Sunday, February 18, 2024, i.e. 73 days after the murderous attack against the police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis outside the closed gym “Melina Merkouris” in Rentis, an anonymous phone call received by the Security officers was what effectively “unlocked” the case and gave the authorities the criminal organization.

Specifically, as, according to information, it is mentioned in the case file, the police officers, after scanning all the footage from the cameras in the area of ​​Rentis – as is characteristically pointed out in the transfer, they even took footage from a coffin manufacturing shop (!) – at 14:50 in the afternoon of February 18 they saw light in the underground tunnel of the criminal group that operated on the organized fans.

The phone call 73 days later

As stated in the communication available to newsit.gr, o anonymous informantdecided 73 days after the murderous attack to open his mouth and inform the police, giving a valuable material that would contribute the most to solving the case.

Through the stick video of Rentis’ episodes in Melina Merkouris, which shows who from the stable went out and committed episodes and left at a specific point by the informant, the police officers of the Criminal Investigation Department from the 7th Department of Digital Evidence Examination managed to locate the following: 15 video files, showing the horseshoe on which the organized fans are sitting, just before they leave the stadium, then their start, where then two person commandsthey come out to attack the policemen.

A small army

The video footage was analyzed in three analysis reports and in combination with other preliminary investigation data it emerged that about 40 people gathered at a specific point and with cars and motorcycles as well as military vehicles formed a convoy with the motorcycles accompanying the cars bound for the stadium where the match was taking place volleyball in Rentis.

The lawyer of three of the defendants, Mr. Alexandros Papaioannidis, speaking to newsit.gr, points out that they are expected to receive all of the material from the case file in order to determine the defense line.
