Next Saturday and Sunday, the defendants for the incidents in Rentis and murder of the police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis they will plead before the judicial authorities facing very serious charges for a total of 28 offenses – felonies and misdemeanors.

The three key persons

At 18:30 on the fateful day, 34 people, among them leaders, the 18-year-old remanded youth and his brother, gathered outside the stadium G. Karaiskakis, outside the VIP sliding door, and stayed until about 7:30 p.m. The plan was to load the cars with munitions, i.e. naval flares, hand flares and improvised explosive devices, and then transport them to K.G. MELINA MERKOURI.
During their stay at the site, the leading executives with the initials XD and K.P they allegedly ordered the 18-year-old, his brother and another person to go to a gas station to get gas, while another youth was sent to the house of one of the leaders to bring dynamite.
After being provided with at least ten 0.5 liter plastic bottles petrol, one of the accused took out from the car he used on the day in question, about 10 dynamite, and gave them to certain people in order to make improvised explosive devices. The defendants also had naval flares in their hands. Two in orange and two in black. The order was “to be with the cops».
The authorities discovered very quickly that the accused had taken all measures to avoid detection and were even using rental cars.
Changing the original plan of attack
The initial plan was for the attacks to take place after the end of the volleyball match, outside the stadium. The plan changed, according to the authorities, when the A.I – leader – and the attack takes place shortly after the end of the 1st set.
