Organized and determined, police officers describe those arrested for the events of December 7 that caused the death of police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis.

As it appears from the preliminary investigation into the murderous attack against the 31-year-old MAT police officer, the role of moral perpetrator was played by five people who gave the orders. As it is characteristically stated in the case file: “they deliberately provoked the decision of the perpetrator to fatally injure deputy constable Georgios Lyggeridis, as well as the decision of the rest of the members of the criminal organization to participate in the attacks with the aim of killing a policeman”.

The possibility of free entry to Olympiakos matches at “G. Karaiskakis” functioned, based on the pre-investigative material from EL.AS., as a “bait” in order for leading members of the designated criminal organization to recruit the so-called “minors” who carried out the orders of the perpetrators. These are people usually between the ages of 16 and 24, who recently joined “Gate 7” and who – according to the case file – were used by the “big ones” to be able to have a numerical superiority when they carry out their attacks. The “little ones” in some cases allegedly also received small “tips” from the “big ones” when they sent them to do errands for them such as buying them food or beers, while they always showed respect to them and fully obeyed their orders. The case file states that “the presence of each of them (including the “minors”), during the commission of the criminal acts, formed the basis of the organization’s criminal activity, without which it would have been impossible”.

The dialogue between the remand for throwing the deadly flare and his brother, who has also been arrested, is revealing of their cynicism.

The well-known criminologist and advocate of the family of Giorgos Lyggeridis, Vassilis Kapernaros, expressed his satisfaction with the dozens of arrests. In fact, the lawyer of the police officer who lost his life after the incidents in a volleyball match in Rentis, gave credit to ELAS.

“This is a criminal organization, a fan army that aimed to kill and is an enemy of society,” Vassilis Kapernaros told ANT1, while he then estimated that there would be “pressure to keep their mouths shut.”

For his part, the President of the Union of Police Employees of Attica, Demosthenes Pakos, emphasized to ANT1 that ELAS will stay by the family’s side and will continue to support them. “We will not let the case be closed or forgotten,” he said characteristically.

“This is a fan army. It is not the first time that something similar to the one that led to George’s murder has happened. The police are constantly attacked at the stadiums, but they always went to the dukou,” Dimosthenis Pakos also said.
