The butchers consider the sale price of ten euros from the breeders to be particularly high

The first of the three now established bazaars just before Easter for the price at which the lamb goats will be sold took place today between breeders and traders in Lagada, Thessaloniki. Two more follow in Drama and Kilkis, with butchers estimating that they will reach consumers from 13 to 15 euros.

The breeders of Lagadas they request to cover the breeding costs they request and maintain that the wholesale price in view of Easter it should be close to 10 euros per kilo.

A shortage of lambs and goats on the market due to increased exports in the run-up to Easter, reduced production and increased costs is pushing prices up, farmers say. As for the supply of the market, it will have to be covered by imports, while Greekization will not be avoided, as they argue.

For their part, the butchers consider the selling price of ten euros from the breeders to be particularly high.

As regards the Greekizations, as emphasized by Mr. Savvas Kesidis, president of the pan-Hellenic federation of butcher shopkeepers, the control mechanisms should intervene and suppress the phenomenon, before the product reaches the consumer.
