Lyggeridis murder: The phones rang

“Sword of Damocles”. This code name was given by EL.AS. in the operation to dismantle the criminal organization – at least as it is attributed in the Attica Security report, which includes 160 people – Olympiakos fans who have allegedly been involved in violent incidents since at least 2019.

As it appears from the preliminary investigation into the murderous attack against the 31-year-old MAT police officer, Giorgos Lyggeridis, the role of moral perpetrator was played by five people. As it is characteristically stated in the case file: “they deliberately provoked the decision of the perpetrator to fatally injure deputy constable Georgios Lyggeridis, as well as the decision of the rest of the members of the criminal organization to participate in the attacks with the aim of killing a policeman”.

Two of them with the initials K.P. and H.M.-D. “led the preparatory actions of the members of the criminal organization, who manufactured and then transported the munitions from the “G. KARAISKAKIS” stadium to the “Melina Merkouri” indoor gym, while once the “items” were loaded, they ordered them to go to “Melina Merkouri” ” to attack policemen”.

At the same time, according to the case file, one of the most famous names in the fan world “with the arrival of A.I. the “Melina Merkouri” stadium, modified the plan of attack, which although initially was to take place after the end of the match, finally by his decision, took place after the end of the 1st set. A.I. wearing a hat, being on the playing field of the stadium, he talked to H.M.-D., who was in the stand of the organized fans of Olympiakos, near the side door, wearing a black sleeveless jacket and a dark-colored blouse.

Afterwards, both of them left the field, the members of the criminal organization were waiting outside the field, and when they left they handed them the weapons and instructed them to follow them and when they threw the objects they were holding, that is A.I. the improvised explosive device and H.M.-D. the naval flare, to throw in turn the objects that each one had in his possession towards the police forces”.

How was the attack signal given?

Finally, the two others described in the preliminary investigation are said to “be the ones who signaled the start of the attacks to the perpetrators who were inside the closed Rentis gym “Melina Mercouri”, urging them to leave the field. Specifically, T.A., entered the field during the first set, directed to a group of Olympiakos fans who were standing, on the railing where banners were hung that read “NEA 7 LIOSIA” and “KAMATERO” and after a few seconds phrases – exhortations and thrusts of the TA’s hands to the group of people he addressed, the people immediately followed him with a quick step towards the exit of the stadium. Among them was KL, who, moving towards the exit of the field, looked behind him and with a characteristic movement of his left hand, motioned to fans who were low in the stands to follow them, which he did, at least a group 15 people, while the exit of the perpetrators continued gradually”.

From the research of EL.AS. it emerged that 141 perpetrators were also identified, who participated as natural perpetrators in the attacks and the role of each perpetrator in the murderous attack. Among them and four leading members of the criminal organization, namely A.I., X.M.-D., K.P..
