The fight that teachers have been waging for three years now against the return of the dark ages of inspectorism is a just one.

Everyone who does not wear the myopic glasses of the Right’s ideologies realizes this.

Because the memories of the climate of fear, back bending, submission, hypocrisy that prevailed in schools during the years of its implementation have not been erased in them.

Because they have eyes and see how the government has abdicated individual responsibility, how it burdens the workers with the mistakes and crimes of the high-ranking decision-makers who staff it and the state apparatus.

Why didn’t they forget what Mitsotakis did, as the Minister of Administrative Reform who in one night cast a “black light” on ERT (which is now openly used for government propaganda) and dismissed 2,656 workers, sent 2,500 public TEE teachers to the status of availability-dismissal and put a lock overnight in 49 specializations-fields of technical vocational education. Because he was the one who took upon himself the counterproductive law 4250/2014 of the “evaluation of public service personnel…”, which determined the specifications of employees with the “maximum percentages per grading scale”.

Because they have seen the joys of the “excellent” with their monkey degrees and obvious ridiculousness.

Because they have eyes and see how the government’s policy is pandering to big interests and the enemy of workers at all levels.

Because they realize that the biggest problems of the public school cannot be loaded on their backs by the teachers.

Because their children are suffering from the “cutters” invented by the government to cut the dreams of access to universities, the Subject Bank, the Minimum Admission Base.

Because they are outraged by how YPAITHA constantly drags teachers to court to make their struggles illegal. Why why…

The government’s repressive policy has angered teachers more than scared them. That’s why and despite the ups and downs from the government, the ministry, but also the trade union bureaucracy massively and persistently continue the strike-abstention from assessment.

Their fight has also raised the awareness of university professors, who express their solidarity with teachers with their announcements and condemn the government’s choice of blackmail, intimidation and the courts.

It has also moved artists, who with their participation in concert organized today, Tuesday 23/4, 7 p.m. in Propylaia by ELME and Primary Education Teachers’ Associationsdeclare their support in the fight against the evaluation-commercialization of Education, authoritarianism and the strike of the right to strike.
