Gasoline prices continue to rise in Greece – In which regions did they exceed 2 euros

--

No end seems to be the Golgotha of consumers, who are seeing fuel and especially petrol prices skyrocket despite the fact that the international price of oil has come down from the highs recorded about 10 days ago.

The price of unleaded gasoline at medium levels, based on data from the Ministry of Development’s Price Observatory, has climbed to 1,983 euros per liter and the areas above 2 euros have now reached 19 compared to 14 last week .

In fact, analysts fear that in view of the increased demand, due to the Easter holiday, the price may show a new rise or, in the best case, consolidate at these levels, which are particularly high anyway.

Even in Attica and Thessaloniki, which are the cheapest areas, the average prices are close to the level of 2 euros and specifically they are 1.956 euros per liter and 1.951 euros respectively.

However, even in these there are gas stations where the price of unleaded gas is above the 2 euro mark.

What seems to be different is the price for the diesel engine, which does not seem to follow the path of the gasoline. So, compared to the end of last month, the price of diesel has increased by 0.6 cents per liter, while for the same period the price of gasoline has risen by 4.1 cents per liter.

Also, compared to last week, there is a marginal drop for diesel and from 1.715 euros, which was today’s price, to 1.713 euros per liter.

It is worth noting that similar prices in gasoline will be found in the middle of last August with the average price of gasoline running towards 2 euros and the price of diesel running at 1,750 euros. Then, from the beginning of September, prices followed a downward trend.

The remarkable thing about the whole case is that the price of Brent in the international markets is moving downwards and from the 92 dollars a barrel it had recorded on April 12, the trend is now – with small exceptions – downward and moves below the 90 dollars limit in barrel. Yesterday, for example, it was formed just above 87 dollars, while intra-session it had fallen below 86 dollars.

The representatives of the fuel market state that this is common sometimes, i.e. the prices at the pump do not keep pace with the course of international oil prices and this is because the prices that Greece buys, but also in general the countries of the Mediterranean, sometimes differ from those of Brent, as also the prices differ by supplier.

Concern over the rally in electricity prices

In the meantime, analysts, the government and of course consumers are very concerned about the mini-rally that the wholesale price of electricity has made in recent days. It is characteristic that for today the price is 98.5 euros per MWh, while a few days ago, specifically on April 20, it was 54 euros per MWh.

A similar trend is taking shape in the rest of the European countries and this is undoubtedly causing concern, because there are many who fear that we may be facing a new focus, forgotten for a long time, of inflationary pressures from energy, which, let’s remember, was the source of the recent economic crisis.

Finally, we should note that the price of natural gas, both the one traded in the Netherlands and the American one, has taken a hit.
