In the courts of the Evelpidon school where the 67 arrested for the murder of the police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis on the evening of December 7 outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium in Rentis have been brought, there are also parents of the accused who claim that their children are innocent.
Among the people who will go through the prosecutor’s door for the murder of the police officer in Rentis, is the minor brother of the 18-year-old who has been remanded in custody as the person who threw the naval flare with which he cut the thread of life of 31-year-old Giorgos Lyggeridis, but also the manager of a well-known trapper.
Speaking to newsit.gr, the mother of a 25-year-old arrested person reports what unfolded after the policeman’s death and also the policemen’s searches in their home.
“The police came to the house and searched it. My son was not at home at the time and went and surrendered himself. The night the policeman was killed, he was at the stadium and was brought in like other people, but he was released” says the mother of the arrested person and continues adding:
“Another time the police came to the house and searched him. And then they hadn’t found him. He had gone to GADA alone again and had given a statement then as well. My son has told me he is innocent. The police didn’t get anything from the searches they did at our house yesterday.”
The mother of a 25-year-old arrested now maintains that her son is innocent, while she feels wronged by the outcome of the case.
“My son had just gone to watch the volleyball match that day and found himself accused, without having done anything at all,” says the 25-year-old’s mother and continues to add:
“He suddenly found himself in GADA without having done anything. The police came to the house yesterday morning. I feel wronged because the child has done nothing and has been found guilty. Go to big matches. We talked about it but he told me that it had nothing to do with all of this. He had told me that at the end of the fight in Rentis, the police had surrounded them to arrest them.”
