Death of an infant in Kos: criminal prosecution in the degree of felony against the two parents

Criminal prosecution in the degree of felony for exposing a minor to danger as well as for physical harm, was brought by the District Attorney of Kos against the 21-year-old father and 20-year-old mother for the death of their one-year-old infant.

In particular, as reported by rodiaki.gr, both Roma are being held in order to be brought before the competent investigator Kos tomorrow to apologize, while the other child of the family (a two-year-old boy) is being hosted by relatives.

The chronicle of the tragedy in Kos

As is known, the baby was taken to the hospital of Kos the night before yesterday (Sunday, April 21, 2024) dead. According to information, the 20-year-old mother of the child found out at 19:45 of the same day that her little girl had lost consciousness.

He then tried to resuscitate the child while at the same time shouting for help. Then, tenants of the apartment building went to the apartment in order to help. Around 20:15 the child’s mother called an ambulance and at the same time another tenant provided first aid. At 8:25 p.m., EKAV rescuers arrived, found that the infant was not breathing and proceeded to resuscitate him.

At 20:32 the infant was received by the on-call doctors of the Kos General Hospital, who found that the child was not breathing. Despite the efforts of the doctors, the infant died at 20:45.

The infant had abrasions and bruises

According to initial information, doctors noticed that the infant had bruises and abrasions on various parts of his body. Immediately, they informed the police, where during the inspection of the body they also confirmed what the doctors reported. There was also talk of signs of sexual abuse, but no such thing emerged from the forensic report.

The two parents were arrested

Both the infant’s mother, who is pregnant, and his father were arrested and taken to the ward. There they allegedly stated that the child choked on the milk while the mother was feeding him. They are also reported to have reported to the authorities that the injuries suffered by the infant came either from blows received by her two-year-old brother, or from some accidents. The family lives in central Greece and went to Kos for the summer season.
