Those arrested for the murder of Lyggeridis to the prosecutor – How EL.AS. reached their tracks

The 60 arrested for the Lyggeridis murder and other fights and incidents in stadiums and sports grounds were brought before the investigator and the prosecutor shortly before 9 am.

The persons included in the case file are said to have been active for at least five years, from 2019 until today, not only in Attica but also in the province, such as Volos and Ioannina.

Of the more than 64 people who have been arrested, the experienced Attica Security officers have identified many of them in 11-12 cases of fan violence.

However, the very tough core of the hooligans, the leadership core, amounts to about 20 people.

According to police sources, five people are charged as moral perpetrators of the murder of Giorgos Lyggeridis.

This is a person who at the time of his arrest had the amount of 5,000 euros with him, with the same sources stating that it was very likely that he was trying to escape from our country, realizing that the cord around his face was getting tighter.

The trapper manager, and three other people, one of whom had previously been arrested for racist attacks.

How the police “tied up” the charge of the criminal organization

The police officers dealing with violence in the sports arenas, managed in the secret investigation for four months to “bind” the charge of the criminal organization, through important findings mainly from the scene of the murder of the MAT police officer.

The videos, photographs and witness statements “gave” key evidence, while the forensic laboratories also “talked” to various munitions that had been identified outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium and had been taken to the forensic laboratories, as well as from the toilets of the stadium where they had set fire to clothes to cover their tracks.

At the same time, persons were identified from the lifting of telephone privacy, while the targets of the investigations were also the movements they had made.

Regarding the attack outside the stadium on Rentis, the hooligans gave the slogan “let’s go out now to finish them off, to clean them up” and then distributed weapons such as bottles, flares and others, while moments later Giorgos Lyggeridis fell to his death wounded on the ground by the naval flare which had been lodged in his thigh.
