Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Lamia today for the inauguration of the new E65 Motorway

The Central Greece Motorway from Lamia to Kalambaka is open to traffic from today Tuesday.

This year’s Easter pilgrims who will travel to Thessaly they will not have to go through the dangerous bends of the Lamia – Domokou roadsince from today late afternoon the southern part of the E65 Motorway, which connects Macedonia with Southern Greece, crossing Western Thessaly and of course Fthiotida, will be open to traffic.

The inauguration of the new Motorway will take place at 10:00 on Tuesday morning (23/4) by the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in the presence, of course, of all the political leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and representatives of the Local Government and bodies of Sterea and Thessaly. Then the Prime Minister will visit Mouzaki Karditsa.

According to information, the opening event will take place at 26th km of the E65, near the 3 km long twin tunnel that “pierces” Mount Othrys.

The new highway will open to traffic this afternoon.


Tolls: How much will it cost Lamia – Trikala:

On the route from Lamia to Trikala, there will be three frontal toll stations, since in addition to Sofades and Trikala, the new frontal toll station of Leianokladi will also be operational:


Twig: cost for passenger cars: €1.85


Sofas: cost for passenger cars: €3.40


Trikala: cost for passenger cars: €2.95

Total cost from Lamia to Trikala €8.20


Let’s remember that the southern part of the E65 includes five uneven junctions and semi-junctions in Lamia, Karpenissi and Xiniada, seven bridges and the 3 km long twin tunnel on Mount Othrys.
