At the big concert of solidarity in the teachers’ struggle that is being organized today at 7 pm in the Propylaea they are calling teachers’ unions, declaring themselves “present” in the battle against the policy of categorizing schools and students, for the scientific status of the teacher, for the right to fight for rights and to claim.
Associations of Primary Education Teachers and ELME extend a broad invitation to participate in today’s concert, in which many notable artists will take part.
“It is a continuation of the wave of support in our long-standing struggle. Three years into a struggle against the attempt to impose categorization, complete commodification and subjection of teachers to these policies. They are annoyed that despite the obstacles they erect, the children of the common family can still study. They want to bend teachers to pass their policy. This is the real purpose of “evaluation”. If they wanted to upgrade the schools, they would be given money which is given away to investors and equipment”emphasizes Panagiotis Evangelou, president of the Association of Primary Education Teachers Anat. Attica “Delmouzos”, inviting parents, teachers and workers to today’s concert on behalf of the union.
The concert is part of the competitive framework of action that was decided at the recent massive nationwide meeting of teachers’ unions. “It is a continuation of the multifaceted struggles and actions of the unions against the “evaluation” – categorization of schools, students and teachers, against the authoritarianism of the government, against the anti-educational – anti-popular policy”notes the Theodora Drymala, president of the “Roza Imbrioti” PE Teachers’ Association, regarding the unions’ initiative. “Through our unions, collectively and massively, we make our anger a fighting force for the school that our children need, that will educate all children, for an educational scientist pedagogue who will teach primarily with his competitive attitude and with his teaching the scientific historical truth and will educate the new generation to enter the struggle and claim the life with rights it deserves. Through the songs of many remarkable artists who participate – and we thank them very much for this – we will all sing together, because life and struggle have taught us to sing and fight. We are fighting the politics of the EU, governments, parties of capital, the categorized school, semi-education. And we sing about life, the teacher and the school that we will conquer anyway”continues and adds: “In the next period, we call for mass participation in the General Assemblies and in the elections for the nomination of representatives to the upcoming congresses that will elect the new Boards of Federations. We condemn government trade unionism, which stands in the way of our struggle. With the fight and the vote we claim Federations – tool and weapon in our fight”.
