Tuesday: How are we going to get by today?

Monday is for many of us gloomy. On Wednesday our mood slowly starts to lift since we are in the middle of the week. Thursday and Friday are now very good days since the rest of the weekend is a breath away. But what about Tuesday?

Although we hardly ever talk about this second day of the week, it deserves our attention as Tuesday seems to be just as, if not more, tiring than Monday with to-do lists long and Friday still very , far away from us.

So how are we going to get through today?

Make your breakfast more enjoyable

If you woke up today with an exclamation of dissatisfaction about so many things you have to accomplish, try to start the day with a more positive mindset, giving your full attention to what pleases you. If you like coffee, for example, wake up a little earlier and enjoy its taste and smell, giving yourself some quiet time.

You could also go for a short walk and focus on the sounds around you, do a stretching routine or meditate.

Research shows that by consciously performing an activity for even 5 minutes at the start of the day, feelings of anxiety and sadness can be reduced.

It’s good to have something to look forward to

Plan to do something other than… chores today. This could be something as simple as ordering your favorite food and relaxing by watching a series or taking a warm bath.

Reduce unnecessary scrolling

Excessive cell phone use has been linked to bad mood, anxiety and depression.

Start being more aware of how you use this tempting little device… Are you mindlessly scrolling through social media during your lunch break or after dinner? While a few minutes of screen time can provide some quick relief, overuse can make your day much more difficult.

What can you do instead? Read a book or listen to a podcast or anything else that relieves you instead of burdening you.

Relax with gratitude

Practicing gratitude can significantly reduce stress levels and prevent negative thoughts, according to research.

A gratitude practice you can implement at the end of the day is to write down in an app or journal three things you are grateful for today. These can be as simple as cuddling with your pet when you get home or the warm bed waiting for you tonight. You’ll feel more fulfilled and less emotionally drained, which is exactly how you deserve to feel every day.
