Today, the Ministry of Justice bill entitled “Consolidation of the first degree of jurisdiction, spatial restructuring of civil and criminal justice courts and other provisions” is expected to be submitted to the competent parliamentary committee for processing, which was submitted to the Parliament on the evening of Friday, April 19 .

The bill introduces – among other things – provisions concerning the unification of the first degree of jurisdiction of the civil and criminal courts and the spatial restructuring of the country’s courts.

Also, the civil and criminal courts of first instance are being restructured and the seats of first instance courts, the parallel and regional seats of the first instance courts of each Regional Unit are defined, as well as their territorial jurisdiction.

The changes will begin with the new judicial year, on September 16.

From what is foreseen for Messinia, the Kalamata Court of Appeal will not be abolished, but now the Laconia Court of First Instance will also fall under its jurisdiction, while the Kalamata Court of First Instance becomes the Messinia Court of First Instance.

On the contrary, the abolition of the Justices of the Peace of Kyparissia and Platamous is considered a blow for Triphylia.
