To the public prosecutor those arrested for the Lyggeridis murder – The five moral perpetrators

The 60 people who were arrested yesterday Monday (22/4) by officers of the Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues for the murder of police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium in Rentis are to be brought before the investigator and the prosecutor today, as well as for other fights in sports venues.

According to information, five of those arrested are accused of moral complicity in the murder of the 31-year-old police officer, for coordinating the attacks on Rentis and for participating in a criminal organization.

Information indicates that it is a trapper manager who allegedly had access to the warehouse from which weapons were transferred, a 36-year-old with a pseudonym of origin, a leader of organized followers with the nickname “short”, a confederate and a 31-year-old who was previously arrested for racist attacks.

The file that has been created for the case is voluminous and it includes a total of 158 people, with the main leadership core consisting of about 20 of them.

A catalytic role in the identification of the accused was played by the videos, photographs and witness statements that had been collected after the murder of the policeman, while in the forensic laboratories various weapons that had been identified outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium, as well as some burnt ones, “spoke” clothes that had been found in the toilets of the stadium.

The investigation by the Authorities concerns both the case of the death of the young policeman outside the stadium in Rentis and other incidents of fan incidents.

In particular, information indicates that some of the incidents in which some of the arrested are allegedly involved relate to the incidents that took place in early December in the Volos-Olympiacos match, to those that took place during the recent match between Olympiacos and Aris as well as to those that happened last December in Ioannina in the match between Olympiakos and the local team.

At the same time, information states that among those arrested is the 16-year-old brother of the 18-year-old who admitted to throwing the flare.

As the leader of EL.AS stated yesterday. Dimitris Mallios, the criminal organization has been operating since 2019, the accused have allegedly committed felonies and misdemeanors in addition to Attica, Volos, Ioannina as well as other areas.

During the police operation, 58 searches were carried out in houses and 15 in vehicles, while a number of persuasive items such as pistols, wooden bats, knives, drugs, clothing, digital media and more were seized.
