Increases are expected in the price of lamb ahead of Holy Week and Easter.
Concern prevails among consumers about market prices in view of Easter, as well as this year, the family table is expected to be expensive, especially due to increases in lambs.
The traditional lamb is expected to be more “salty” this year, although at the moment in Barbecue its price is 12 euros per kilo. However, in the butcher’s shop, its cost seems to be quite higher, with the increase compared to last year ranging from 10 to 15%.
Therefore, this year we will find the lamb at 15-16 euros per kilo while last year it was at 13-14 euros, according to a related report by the OPEN television station.
At the same time, it is a “bet” for the government to perform measures to contain prices for the Easter season, such as the “Godfather’s Basket» which has been in force since Tuesday 21 April but also the “Easter Basket”, which comes tomorrow Wednesday and will also last until 4 May 2024.
The “Godfather’s Basket” includes the following products:
- Easter candles – toys
- Board / Puzzle
- Doll toys, dollhouses and other accessories (imitation toys)
- Baby toys
- Action figures
- Construction and building games (eg brick games)
- Vehicles – Remote Controlled
- Electronic games
- Sports toys (eg balls, children’s basketballs and goals)
- A soft toy
- Musical toys
- Chocolate eggs and similar products (optional)
The Easter Basket includes the following products:
- Lamb
- Kid
- Greek sweet bread
- Easter chocolate eggs and related products
The Godparents’ Basket includes 12 categories of products and enables consumers who are godparents or parents of small children to make cheaper purchases during the Easter period
