A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck in Taiwan at 02:32 in the morning on Tuesday (local time, 21:32 on Monday in Greece), according to the meteorological service of the island.
The epicenter of the earthquake is located in Hualien Province (east) and the focal depth is estimated at 5.5 kilometers, it is clarified in a related announcement.
Six minutes earlier there was a magnitude 6 earthquake, centered a few kilometers to the north.
The two earthquakes were particularly felt in the capital Taipei, while there are no reports of major damage so far.
Seismic activity is on the rise in Taiwan after the powerful 7.2-magnitude earthquake that shook the island on April 3.
