Lyggeridis murder: 60 arrests, criminal organization with 158 members behind the attack

Testimonies, videos and other findings that demonstrated the existence of a criminal organization behind the attack by hooligans in the area of ​​Rentis, which resulted in the death of police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis, are included in the file prepared by EL.AS., as its leader points out EL.AS., Dimitrios Mallios, in his statement.

He points out that 60 people have been arrested so far, while the criminal organization consists of 158 members who, at least since 2019, have committed felony and misdemeanor criminal acts and were active mainly in Attica, Volos and Ioannina.

“In the last 4 months, the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues of the Attica Security Directorate, with the assistance of the Criminal Investigations Directorate, conducted an extensive investigation under the utmost secrecy to fully elucidate the criminal hooligan attack in the area of ​​Rentis, which resulted in the death of YAT police officer Georgios Lyggeridis.

As is already known, for the investigation of this murderous attack, from the first moment, they had been carried out over 400 introductionsso that no conviction is lost, while one person had been arrested and brought to justice.

Subsequently, the case file compiled included testimonials, video and other findings which demonstrated the existence criminal organization behind the attack while they were confirming association of sports violence with organized crime.

In particular, evidence emerged of a criminal organization, consisting of aof 158 memberswhich, at least from 2019committed felony and misdemeanor criminal acts and acted mainly in Attica, Bullet and Janina.

In order to dismantle the criminal organization in question, from the early hours of this morning, as part of the ongoing preliminary investigation, a wide-ranging police operation was carried out, with the assistance of the EKAM. and police dogs, resulting in arrest, so far 60 people.

At the same time, 58 searches have been carried out in houses and 15 in vehicles and a number of evidences have been seized, such as pistols, wooden clubs, knives, drugs, clothing, digital media and other.

Information that the 3 alleged moral perpetrators have been arrested

Specifically, as the same information states, EL.AS. estimates that the 3 people with surnames “Joseph”, “Romanos” and “Agriniotis”, knew everything about what happened last December outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium, where the 31-year-old policeman was murdered. They are considered the people who gave the orders and directed the hooligans to create incidents, just like what happened on the fateful night.

It is noted that EL.AS. considers that among those arrested, they are 20 people which “place” them in the very hard core of fans of a particular team.

Along with the arrests, the identification process of those arrested, for their presence in the incidents in Rentis, Volos and Ioannina, using the findings from house-to-house investigations. After a 4-month investigation, the authorities raided the homes of dozens of suspects – now arrested – and in some of them, they have been located clothes worn on the days of the incidents in the above areas, as it appears from video footage that EL.AS has at its disposal.

Also, various pieces of evidence have been confiscated, while important are the elements that have emerged from the de-privacy of communicationsthe attachments of the suspects and the DNA resultswhile in addition, it was also identified DNA from burnt clotheswhich were found in the toilets of the closed gym.

According to SKAI, they have been arrested leaders of link leadership groups who allegedly organized the incidents, the deputy leaders, the organizers, the team leaders, the transmitters of the orders and actions, the arms storekeepers, the people who made up the strike teams, the 27-year-old manager of a well-known trapperas well as 18 year old’s brother, who is accused of firing the fatal naval flare.

At “umbrella” file that has been formed for the criminal organization, is attributed to some of the members and complicity in the murder of the 31-year-old, according to the television station. Among them are the brother of the 18-year-old who threw the naval flare, the manager of a well-known trapper who was identified by the perpetrators themselves as the person who supplied them with the naval flares, while there are still several people identified as participants in the incidents, based on a high definition video, which one of the hooligans pulled.
