EL.AS: A criminal organization with 158 members is involved in the Lyggeridis murder

With an official announcement by THE GREEK POLICE referred to the arrest of members of a criminal organization involved in the attack on YAT police officers. in Rentis resulting in the death of Police Chief George Lyggeridis.
In particular, according to ELAS “in the last 4 months, the Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues of the Attica Security Directorate, with the assistance of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, carried out an extensive investigation under the utmost secrecy for the complete clarification of the criminal hooligan attack in the Rentis area, which resulted in the death of YAT police officer Georgios Lyggeridis.
As is already known, to solve this murderous attackfrom the first moment, had been carried out over 400 introductions, so that no conviction was lost, while a person had been arrested and brought to justice.
Subsequently, the case file compiled included testimony, video and other findings that demonstrated the existence of a criminal organization behind the attack, while confirming a link between sports violence and organized crime.
In particular, evidence emerged of a criminal organization, consisting of 158 memberswhich, at least since 2019, committed felony and misdemeanor criminal acts and operated mainly in Attiki, Volos and Ioannina.
In order to dismantle the criminal organization in question, from the early hours of this morning, as part of the ongoing preliminary investigation, a wide-ranging police operation was carried out, with the assistance of the EKAM. and police dogs, resulting in an arrest, so far 60 people.
At the same time, they have been carried out 58 surveys in houses and 15 in vehicles and a number of persuasions such as pistols, wooden bats, knives, drugs, clothing, digital media and others have been seized.

Statements Chrysochoidis

The Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, made new statements about the murder of police officer G. Lyggeridis.
Speaking in detail at the conference of the Panhellenic Federation of Police Officers, he said, among other things:
“This mourning, after the death of Giorgos Lyggeridis, must be turned into an act both for the one who “left” and for those who remain behind. We need to review the entire legal regime around the protection of victims of violence and terrorism.
For those who leave in this unfair way, there is the rendering of justice, as provided by the Republic and our Constitution. George will be with us every day, to remind us how precious human life is and how hateful, murderous and destructive violence is for any society.
For those who remain, George’s parents, the parents of every victim, I want to emphasize that they will not be alone. The Greek Police, but also all of Greece, will be by your side, so that every day we can fight, fight and fight not only as a society, but also as a Police, to fight crime.”
