A total of 60 arrests were made in the last few hours for the murderous attack on MAT police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis with a naval flare in Rentis, outside the “Melina Merkouri” volleyball court on December 7th.

As enikos.gr wrote earlier, the case file includes more than 150 persons for involvement not only in the death of the policeman but also in other cases of fan violence. Those arrested will be brought before the prosecutor’s office on Tuesday to be formally charged with the serious charges.

The large operation of the Police started on Sunday afternoon from the city of Ioannina. According to information from ERT, one of the natural perpetrators of the murderous attack against the policeman tried to escape abroad. He was probably fleeing to Albania. According to the same information, he was spotted in the city of Ioannina by police officers of the Sports Violence Department, riding in a car and moving towards the border.

Subsequently, investigations were also carried out in Attica and in other regions of Greece, such as in Chania, Karditsa and Sparta. According to information, at least two pistols, naval flare launchers, several flares, bats were found, but a radio tuned to the police frequency was also found. Clothes worn by some fans on the night of the attack on MAT police officers were also found.
