SC: Appeal from companies requesting the cancellation of the ceiling on the prices of baby milk

Companies active in its production and marketing are asking the Council of State to cancel the ceiling on the prices of baby milk.

With an appeal to the Supreme Court, they argue that the imposition of a maximum price on the profit margin is unconstitutional and illegal.

The “Association of Baby Food and Special Nutrition Businesses of Greece”, whose members are the largest companies active in Greece in the field of infant and child nutrition, appealed to the SC.

It argues that the cap on baby milk is contrary to European legislation and the Constitution. Among other things, it violates the provisions on business and economic freedom, free competition and the principle of equality. As for the maximum prices, he argues that they were set arbitrarily and are below the cost of producing and distributing the baby milk.
