A major police operation of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues by the Hellenic Police has begun since the early hours of Monday, resulting in the arrest of more than 50 people for the murderous attack with a naval flare against 31-year-old police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis on December 7, 2023 outside the indoor gym in Rentis.
Everyone is waiting for the announcements from the police. More than 150 people are included in the case file. Homes and vehicles were searched. The investigation by the Authorities concerns both the case of the death of the young policeman outside the stadium in Rentis and other incidents of fan incidents.
Among those arrested are three leading members of a certain Thira of Olympiakos fans. These people allegedly gave orders and assigned the roles as Mina Karamitrou reports in OPEN. The three specific arrestees have also concerned the Authorities and the Directorate for Combating Sports Violence many times.
