Rapid developments in the case of the murder of the police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis in Rentis, with EL.AS proceeding with the arrests of Olympiakos fans.
In arrests of people involved with the fan movement, EL.AS carried out during an operation, in the context of a large police operation in the context of the investigation into the murder of the MAT police officer, Giorgos Lyggeridis.
According to what was broadcast by the show “Kalimera Greece” on ANT1, the Greek National League has proceeded to the arrests of Olympiakos fans who are allegedly involved in the murder of the policeman.
As Lawandorder reports, the investigation is progressing in Athens and Piraeus and in the sights of EL.AS. there are at least 50 fans, mainly of Olympiakos. Searches have focused on homes and so far leads and arrests have been made. The operation is expected to be completed on Monday afternoon (22/4). Most likely the charges will relate to the creation of a criminal organization.
Giorgos Lyggeridis passed away on December 27, after a tough battle that he fought for 20 days, following his serious injury.
The 31-year-old had received a naval flare in the incidents that took place in Rentis’ closed, during the “eternal” derby, Olympiacos – Panathinaikos, for the League Cup.
The announcement of the Hellenic Police regarding the operation states: “A large-scale operation of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in the sports grounds of the Attica Security Directorate has been in full progress since the early hours of this morning to arrest people involved in the incident of the fatal injury of a police officer on the 7 12-2023 in a sports event in Rentis. So far, dozens of people have been brought in as well as a large number of searches in homes and vehicles, while various items of evidence have been seized.”
