Giorgos Lyggeridis: Leaders of Gate 7 were arrested for the murder of the policeman – Iosif, trapper manager and the “Romanian”!

The developments regarding the case of the death of the 31-year-old police officer of the MAT, Giorgos Lyggeridis, in Rentis, after an attack by Olympiakos fans with a naval flare, are fast-paced.

Since the early hours of this morning, a large-scale police operation of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues of the Attica Security, is underway to arrest the people involved in the fatal injury with a naval flare of the unfortunate police officer.

According to information from police sources, so far 57 people have been arrested, who are accused, among other things, of participating in a criminal organization, while the file that has been filed includes more than 150 people.

At least 20-30 people are the core of those involved, the organizers of that night as well as in another 10 episodes in stadiums like Volos, but also in fights with other fans.

Among the organizers of the episodes and those of Rentis, there are leading executives of Thira 7, one “Iosif”, the 27-year-old manager of a well-known trapper, and the 36-year-old “Romanos”.

At the same time, in the context of the operation, a large number of searches have been carried out in houses and vehicles, from which various items of evidence have been seized.

All those arrested face the criminal organization charge with different sub-charges depending on the degree of involvement of each one.

It is recalled that the 31-year-old police officer passed away on December 27, after 20 days in hospital, after being seriously injured by a naval flare that he had received during incidents that took place outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium in Rentis during during the volleyball match between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.

Lyggeridis: “May his memory be vindicated” says his father

The father of Giorgos Lyggeridis died upon hearing the news that EL.AS. made dozens of arrests for his son’s murder.

The father of the police officer who was murdered in Rentis was attending an event on fan violence when he heard the news about the developments in his son’s murder case.

“We are waiting for the justice system to do the right thing. They started today, as far as we know. My child’s memory must be vindicated. The hero. My son. For all of Greece, for all the police. He is my new family, all my children in here are my son. I hugged them all one by one. They give me courage, they keep me upright”, Athanasios Lyggeridis said to the OPEN camera with tears in his eyes, referring to his son’s platoon.
