Death of a 31-year-old police officer in Renti: At least 50 charges and arrests, over 150 accused – The case file also concerns other fan incidents

Great police operation has been ongoing since Sunday evening by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues in collaboration with other services of the Hellenic Police, for the arrest of the persons involved in the fatal wounding by a naval flare of the unfortunate 31-year-old policemanon December 7, 2023 outside his indoor gym Rentiwhere it took place Volley match.

The police officers of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Areas, throughout the previous period, collected statements and footage from security cameras, analyzed legal meetings and used every piece of information that reached them in order to form a file of hundreds of pages.

The case file concerns at least 150 people, members of the fan movement, most of them hooligans who have troubled the authorities again in the past.

Since last night, a large police operation is underway in Athens and Piraeus. There have been more than 50 arrests and arrests, where they are involved both in the incidents that took place outside the Rendis stadium and in the murder of the 31-year-old policeman, as well as in at least ten more cases of fan violence, out of the many we had in the previous period. So far they have been arrested over 50 people with the number of wanted persons concerned over 60 people and the business to continue. Also according to information, case file that has been filed, it’s over of 150 defendants.

Have happened dozens of searches in houses and cars, but also in places where fans were related. They all treat as accusations, among others, the participation in a criminal organizationwhile the case file it does not only concern the Rentis case but also other fan incidents in which those involved had an organizational and executive role.

Tomorrow it is expected that the case file will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office and also that those arrested will be brought in order to be charged and given criminal treatment.

“A large-scale operation by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in the sports grounds of the Attica Security Directorate has been in full progress since the early hours of this morning to arrest people involved in the incident of the fatal injury of a police officer on 7-12-2023 at a sports event in Renti. So far, dozens of people have been brought in as well as a large number of searches in homes and vehicles, while various items of evidence have been seized.”

THE 31-year-old police officer passed away on December 27after a hard battle that he fought for 20 days, after the serious injury to him from a naval flare that he had received during incidents that took place outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium in Rentis during the “eternal” derby, Olympiacos – Panathinaikos.
