In reductions in the prices of its models in the US, China and Europe Tesla said over the weekend as Elon Musk’s U.S. automaker tries to boost sales of electric vehicles, which in the first quarter of 2024 were down both year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter.
More detail, Tesla has cut prices for the Model Y, X and S in the US by $2,000 eachwhile on Saturday it was also announced lowering the price for Full Self-Driving in the US from $12,000 to $8,000;
The prices of the Model 3, Model Y, Model X and Model S will also be reduced by $2,000 in Chinawhile the automotive industry has also cut prices on some of its models in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
It is recalled that during the first quarter of 2024, Tesla recorded the first quarterly decline in sales in four yearsas the last time it saw sales decline was in the second quarter of 2020.
In particular, as emerged from the vehicle production and deliveries report, Tesla completed the delivery of 386,810 vehicles in the January-March quarter, while overall production was completed at 433,371. Analysts had expected deliveries of about 457,000 vehicles for the period ended March 31, according to FactSet.
During the same period last year, the electric car company reported 422,875 deliveries and production of 440,808 vehicles, while in the fourth quarter of 2023, Tesla reported 484,507 deliveries and production of 494,989 vehicles.
