Thessaloniki welcomes the Olympic Flame today

Her Olympic flame of the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris is welcomed today by Thessalonikiwith a series of events.

The welcome ceremony will take place on Sunday afternoon at 19:00, at the new Beach, specifically at the Zongolopoulos Umbrellas.

Then will follow, according to the program, the arrival of the official delegation of the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the Organizing Committee and the raising of flags, with the playing of the Olympic Anthem and the National Anthems of France and Greece by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.

Afterwards, there will be greetings from the mayor of Thessaloniki, the representatives of the organizing committee and the EOE, as well as an exchange of gifts, while the ceremony will conclude with a program of traditional dances from the Greek dance department of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.

Before the arrival of the Olympic Flame, a welcoming ceremony will be held at 16:26, in the square of Asia Minor and Thracian Hellenism, in the cultural center of Toumba, with parallel events and then it will head to the Olympic Museum, where a welcoming ceremony will take place, lasting 30′ at 17:07. Afterwards, the Olympic Flame will go to the new Zongolopoulos Beach and umbrellas, according to the following route: Olympic Museum – 3rd September – Egnatia left – Lys. Kautanzoglou – Stratou Avenue – French Institute – Stratou Avenue – Tsimiski – Ionos Dragoumi – Nikis Avenue – 30th of October – Statue of Alexander the Great.
