Dead infant Kos: The parents will be taken to the prosecutor
Suffocation by swallowing food is the cause of death of infants in Mr, based on the forensic examination. At 8:15 p.m., the minor’s mother called the EKAB station and at the same time a tenant of the apartment building provided first aid to the little girl, until 8:25 p.m., when EKAB rescuers arrived at the scene, who found that the infant was not breathing and applied the relevant resuscitation protocols. Shortly after 20:30, the infant was handed over to the on-call doctors at Kos General Hospital, who found the presence of undigested food in his respiratory system, resulting in a lack of oxygen flow. Despite the efforts of the doctors, the infant ended shortly before 21:00.
Bruises and abrasions on the infant’s body
Doctors then noticed that the infant had abrasions and generalized ecchymoses (bruises) on various parts of his body, as well as possible signs of sexual abuse – something that was not confirmed during the forensic examination. Police officers from the Kos Police Department went to the hospital and during the macroscopic examination of the body confirmed what the doctors said. Along the way, both the baby’s mother and his father, who in the meantime had gone to the hospital, were brought to AT Kos.
The infant’s parents verbally stated that the infant’s injuries were the result of either being hit by her 2-year-old brother or some accidents, while they were unaware of possible signs of sexual abuse. The Police received 10 affidavits from the doctor of the General Hospital of Kos, from the rescuers of the EKAV and from the residents who came to help.
