EL.AS proceeded to arrest dozens of people allegedly related to the death of police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis, who died from a flare outside the Melina Merkouris stadium in Rentis.
The EL.AS operation began in the early hours of the morning with the police officers conducting parallel searches of houses and cars, while various items of evidence have already been seized.
The charges that those arrested are going to face relate to a criminal organization.

“A large-scale operation by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in the sports grounds of the Attica Security Directorate has been in full progress since the early hours of this morning to arrest people involved in the incident of the fatal injury of a police officer on 7-12-2023 at a sports event in Renti. So far, dozens of people have been brought in as well as a large number of searches in homes and vehicles, while various items of evidence have been seized.”
Giorgos Lyggeridis passed away on December 27th, after a 20-day long battle, following a serious thigh injury from a naval flare he received during the bloody incidents outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium in Rentis .
