A major police operation by the Hellenic Police has been underway since the early hours of Monday (22/04). for identifying and bringing in followers, who are allegedly involved in the murder of Giorgos Lyggeridis in Rentis.

According to information from enikos.gr, EL.AS. proceeded to arrest persons allegedly involved in the incident.

“A large-scale operation by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in the sports grounds of the Attica Security Directorate has been in full progress since the early hours of this morning to arrest people involved in the incident of the fatal injury of a police officer on 7-12-2023 at a sports event in Renti. So far, dozens of people have been brought in as well as a large number of searches in homes and vehicles, while various items of evidence have been seized.”

It is recalled that the 31-year-old police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis, who was seriously injured by a naval flare during the incidents that took place outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium in Rentis, succumbed to his injuries on December 27, in the ICU of the General State Hospital of Nice, where was being treated.

The doctors had proceeded to amputate his leg, which was hit by the naval flare.
