Raid on dozens of houses for the moral perpetrators of the attack with the naval flares – A major operation of EL.AS is underway.

A major operation by Attica Security has been in full swing since the early hours of the morning in the case of the fatal injury of the MAT police officer, Giorgos Lyggeridis. Four months after the incidents outside the “Melina Merkouri” stadium in Rentis, the authorities gathered the necessary evidence to proceed with other arrests of people who were involved in the incidents of December 7.

According to information from zougla.gr, police raided houses in the region of Western Attica in order to catch, literally, people who were involved in the incidents of that night while they were sleeping. At least 50 arrests have been made so far.

The aim of the sports violence sub-directorate was to identify and the moral perpetrators in the case as, it is recalled that an 18-year-old man has already been arrested and remanded in custody for the murder of the MAT police officer. He had admitted that he had thrown a flare in the direction of the policeman. Official announcements from the authorities are expected within the day.

“A large-scale operation of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues of the Attica Security Directorate has been in full progress since the early hours of the morning today to arrest people involved in the incident of the fatal injury of a police officer on 7/12/2023 at a sports event in Renti. So far, dozens of people have been brought in, as well as a large number of searches in homes and vehicles, while various items of evidence have been seized. A newer update will follow.”
