From today, Monday, April 22, the “Godparents’ Basket” with toys for children comes into effect, while on Wednesday, April 24, the “Easter Basket” with lamb, goat, bun and Easter chocolate eggs comes into effect.

• As of Thursday, April 25, the festive schedule will be implemented.

The “godfather’s basket” will include candles with toys and chocolate eggs, as well as all the categories of toys that Santa’s basket also contained, such as: board and puzzles, dolls and pretend toys, baby toys, action figures, construction toys, toy cars and remote control, electronic and sports toys, soft toys and musical toys.

• The “Easter basket” will be available in supermarkets from April 24 until Holy Saturday and will contain lamb, goat, bun and chocolate eggs.

The aim is to maintain the price of the arrowroot at last year’s levels, at 10 euros per kilo, showing, however, a large deviation from the neighborhood stores.

• “At the regional butchers, if I get last year’s figures that sold 14 and 15, this year it will go 16 and 17. It is unfair for the breeder to sell 6 and for the butcher to go 16” says the president of the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Naxos, Dimitris Kapounis.

Meanwhile, consumers are doing market research ahead of the Easter season as inflation eats away at disposable income. Representatives of the retail trade point out that prices are at last year’s levels and hope that their turnover will reach 1.5 billion euros.

“We hope that the gift of private employees, the pensions that will go into the accounts of the beneficiaries, all this will stimulate the purchasing power of consumers so that the market will also collect” said the vice president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce, Nikolaos Kouyoumtzis.

Festive opening hours start on Thursday 25 April and stores will be open from 9am to 9pm, with the exception of Good Friday when they will be open from 1pm to 7pm and Holy Saturday from 9 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon.

On Sunday, April 28, the shops will open from 11 to 4.

Festive hours start on Thursday 25th April with stores open from 9:00am to 9:00pm. On Sunday, April 28, the association’s shops are proposed to be open from 11 am to 4 pm.

For the Holy Week from Holy Monday to Holy Thursday the good that is proposed is continuous 9:00 in the morning to 9:00 in the evening, on Good Friday from 1:00 in the afternoon until 7:00 in the afternoon and on Holy Saturday from 9:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon.

On Easter Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the shops will be closed. They will be closed on Tuesday due to the postponement of the May Day celebration.
