A major police operation is underway by the Sports Violence Department of the Hellenic Sports Association throughout Attica for the murder of policeman Lyggeridis in Rentis. Specifically, as it became known on Monday morning, the authorities have made more than 100 arrests.

Giorgos Lyggeridis had lost his life after being hit by a naval flare in the leg at the end of December, during incidents in the indoor stadium of Rentis, in a volleyball match between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos.

The policeman had remained in the hospital in a critical condition, but finally, after about 20 days, he died.

The flare had hit the unfortunate policeman in the left leg, finding an artery. The deputy warden of the MAT was hospitalized in the ICU of the General State of Nice since December 7. According to information, in the last few days the health of the 31-year-old police officer had deteriorated and he was brain dead.
