Dozens of prosecutions and arrests for the murder of the policeman Lyggeridis – All-night operation in the houses of fans

Dozens of people involved in the fan movement were arrested by EL.AS during the night, as part of a major police operation in the context of the investigation into the murder of the MAT police officer, Giorgos Lyggeridis.

An 18-year-old man was arrested and remanded in custody for the case, with the investigation not stopping and the police officers of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Violence in Sports Venues collecting evidence that led to today’s operation. Among those arrested are many persons who have been employed for attacks as hooligans, while after the completion of the criminal case all those arrested will be brought to the Prosecutor’s Office.

The 31-year-old deputy guard was seriously injured in the leg by a flare fired by hooligans outside the closed stadium of Rentis “Melina Merkouris”, where the Olympiakos volleyball team was playing. After 20 days of hospitalization in the ICU of the General State of Nice and a hard fight to keep alive, the MAT policeman ended up.
