Death of an infant in Kos: To the prosecutor the parents of the child who died of drowning

The parents of the infant in Kos, who tragically died on Saturday night, are expected to cross the threshold of the Prosecutor today, Monday.

In particular, according to the forensic examination carried out, the death of the one-year-old infant came from suffocation by swallowing food, while abrasions were also found on his body, which are much older.

The arrested parents face charges of fatal exposure of a minor, while at the same time they will have to answer for the abrasions found on the child’s body.

The chronicle of the tragedy in Kos

It is recalled that, everything happened on Saturday night, in the house of a Roma family on the island. According to information, shortly before 8pm the mother of the little girl found that her daughter had lost consciousness.

He tried to help her, to no avail, while at the same time shouting for help. Residents of the apartment building who heard her rushed to the apartment in order to help as best they could.

At 8:15 p.m., the minor’s mother called the EKAV station and at the same time a tenant of the apartment building provided first aid to the little girl, until 8:25 p.m., when EKAV rescuers arrived at the scene, who found that the infant was not breathing and applied the relevant resuscitation protocols.

Shortly after 20:30, the infant was handed over to the doctors on call at the Kos General Hospital, who found the presence of undigested food in his respiratory system, resulting in a lack of oxygen flow. Despite the efforts of the doctors, the infant ended shortly before 21:00.

At the same time, doctors found that the infant had abrasions and ecchymosis (bruises) on various parts of his body, as well as possible signs of sexual abuse, which were not confirmed by the forensic examination.

Police officers from the Kos Police Department went to the hospital and during the macroscopic examination of the body confirmed what the doctors said. Afterwards, both the infant’s mother and his father, who in the meantime had gone to the hospital, were brought to AT Kos. The infant’s parents verbally stated that the infant’s injuries were the result of either being hit by her 2-year-old brother or some accidents, while they were unaware of possible signs of sexual abuse.
