Arrests of organized Olympiacos fans

A wide-ranging police operation of the sub-directorate of sports violence in collaboration with other security agencies has been underway since the early hours of Monday to identify and arrest fans who participated in the murder of Giorgos Lyggeridis in Rentis.

The investigation is progressing in Athens and Piraeus and in the sights of EL.AS. there are at least 50 fans, mainly of Olympiakos. Arrests and arrests have been made so far, with the operation expected to wrap up this afternoon.

The 31-year-old was fighting for his life at the General State Hospital of Nice, where he was taken after the attack. The doctors had proceeded to amputate the policeman’s leg, “due to irreversible ischemic damage and extensive muscle necrosis in the area of ​​the thigh wound and to avoid local septic and systemic complications and serious deterioration of the patient’s condition”.

On December 27, 2023, George Lyggeridis ended up in the Intensive Care Unit.
