The Church today honors the memory of Saint Theodore of Sykeotis, bishop of Anastasiopolis
THE Saint Theodore he came from the village Syceon of Gaul and lived in the years of the famous emperor Justinian. It was the fruit of a sinful relationship between a young woman named Maria and a royal postman named Cosmas.
But his father quickly abandoned him. On the contrary, his repentant mother rose to the occasion. She proved to be prudent and devoted herself with all her soul to the upbringing of her child, bringing him up “in the discipline and admonition of the Lord”. And the holy Theodore rewarded maternal expectations in the best possible way.
At a young age he became a monk and was later ordained an elder. For his rich spiritual and administrative talents, he was unanimously elected Bishop of Anastasioupolis. From this position the holy Theodoros unfolded all the virtues that adorned him, becoming a great teacher of the clergy and people. Saint Theodore advised, advised, encouraged, helped and benefited everyone without exception.
His fame spread rapidly, so that many princes came to the seat of his Episcopate to receive his spiritual instructions. And he received from the All-Good God the gift of ridding himself of unclean spirits. He peacefully surrendered his holy soul in the hieronymous dance of the Saints and Righteous of our faith.

From infancy you were filled with divine grace, and you were entrusted to God like Samuel the captive, inheriting the precious robe of the Father, from whom you are a worker of miracles, and a mystagogue of Christ, Theodore, you appeared, divinely shining, you give spiritual nourishment to the faithful.
