According to the development minister Kostas Skrekas the two Baskets give consumers the possibility of cheaper shopping for everyone.
In more detail, from April 22, 2024 until May 4, 2024, the “Godfathers’ Basket” comes into force, while correspondingly from April 24, 2024 until May 4, 2024, the “Easter Basket”.
It is reminded that the “Lent Basket” is also valid until May 4.
The “Easter Basket” is an extension of the “Household Basket”, as four new categories of food are added, in order to be an additional outlet for consumers.
The “Easter Basket” includes the following products:
- Lamb
- Kid
- Greek sweet bread
- Easter chocolate eggs and related products
The “Godfathers’ Basket” includes 12 categories of products and enables consumers who are godparents or parents of small children to make cheaper purchases during the Easter period.
The “Godfathers Basket” includes the following products:
- Easter candles – toys
- Board / Puzzle
- Doll toys, dollhouses and other accessories (imitation toys)
- Baby toys
- Action figures
- Construction and building games (eg brick games)
- Vehicles – Remote Controlled
- Electronic games
- Sports toys (eg balls, children’s basketballs and goals)
- A soft toy
- Musical toys
- Chocolate eggs and similar products (optional)
The Minister of Development Kostas Skrekas he said: “We support households in practice so that every family table is filled with the necessary goods at the lowest possible prices. Initiatives such as the “Easter Basket” also increase competition between food businesses for the benefit of consumers. With the “Godparents’ Basket” we essentially help godparents and parents to buy quality toys at affordable prices to make all the children happy these festive days. The primary concern of the government and the Ministry of Development is the help and relief of all our fellow citizens, especially the most vulnerable”.
