” Stroll blew my mind today”

--

Daniel Ricciardo was furious today with Lance Stroll immediately after their collision at the Chinese Grand Prix

It was an interesting race at the Shanghai circuit. On the 20th lap the race went to safety car status after Valteri Bottas retired. On the restart Lance Stroll made a childish mistake, locking up his brakes, crashing into Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian’s race was ruined – his misfortune was great as he had been excellent in his performance up to that point.

The controversial moment

Stroll drew a backlash from Ricciardo when he avoided taking responsibility for the incident in his interview. For the RB driver this was unheard of: ” When he calms down and in a short time he sees the replay again, accept his guilt. If not, neither I nor anyone else can help him.”

“It’s infuriating. Obviously racing incidents happen but while we have a safety car this should never happen. What blew my mind is that I saw the replay from his car. As soon as we brake I see his helmet looking at the top of turn 14 – meaning he doesn’t see me at all! By the time he focuses back on me he’s already fallen on me.”

The carambola was also discussed by the first three

Several fans noticed that Fernando Alonso was the one who blocked first leading to this “harmonica” and the crash. Daniel on the other hand continued in the same sharp tone about the Canadian: “I don’t know what he’s doing, or where his mind is. He had to have his attention on me at that moment. I was calm when I quit. But when I heard what he reported to his engineers there I was confused.”

?For the end he gave the free throw: ” According to him I am an idiot and it was my fault. It was upstream such a statement, it had all the visibility and we were moving very slowly. I make an effort not to express myself as he should, but to the best of his ability.”
