According to what the Patras Women’s Union reveals to “N”, the reports that have been made to the club in the last few days alone (after Sunday’s murder) about domestic violence reach seven.

These cases concern various forms of violence against women, physical (beatings), verbal (insults and psychological violence) or even attempts at handcuffing.

But what should be emphasized is that of the seven cases that rushed to the Patras Women’s Union, three of them were taken back and certainly never went to the Police to report what happened to them.

Something that testifies, in addition to fear, to a lack of trust in the authorities, especially after the tragic incident on Sunday. In fact, based on data from the Women’s Union, 35 incidents of violence against women were reported to it in 2023.

We note that according to KETHI Patras, every month 15 to 20 new cases of female victims of domestic violence come and knock on the structure’s door, so from 180 to 240 cases a year. Reports of such incidents have also been made to the SOS Children’s Villages unit.
